Spectacled Bears are the only bears living in South America but they are not being in consideration properly... in fact they are being considered as a menace!!!! yes a menace! for the ones who doesnt know much about these animals they are vegetarians they need great and big wild forest to live as they need to look for their food (mostly fruits and plants) and they are totally harmless.




However the places where they live are being destroyed by people to create cultives, so not only they almost have no way to go but also they are completely unprotected!! even though they are an endangered species THIS IS AWFUL WE GOT TO DO SOMETHIN SO PLEASE SIGN THIS SO I CAN SEND THIS TO THE GOVERMENTS OF PERU AND COLOMBIA SO THEY CAN LISTEN US AND DO SOMETHIN TO PROTECT THEM FROM MANKIND.

Help stop the trade in bear products, specifically bile and gall bladder.

A bill pending before Congress would amend the Lacey Act of 1981,16 U.S.C. §§3371, 3372, and ban the import, export and interstate trade of these bear parts.

The bill, the Bear Protection Act of 2009, H.R. 3480, was introduced by Reps. Raul M. Grijalva (D-AZ) and John Campbell (R-CA).

The bill already has 30 co-sponsors. Find out if your representative is a co-sponsor

and if not, write or call and urge him or her to sign on as a co-sponsor to H.R. 3480, the Bear Protection Act of 2009. If your U.S. representative is a co-sponsor already, thank him or her!

HELP STOP EXPANSION OF TROPHY HUNTING OF BLACK BEARS IN CALIFORNIA

Last month, the California Department of Fish & Game (CDFG) announced two new, alarming proposals that could dramatically increase the number of black bears killed by trophy hunters in the state. Tragically, bear hunting – including the barbaric practice of pursuing bears with packs of radio-collared hounds, treeing, and then shooting them – is already legal in California. But now the CDFG plans to lift all numerical limits to bear hunting. Previously, the Department had closed bear "season" after 1,700 bears were reported killed. At the request of hunting lobbyists, the CDFG is proposing to lift this "closure mechanism" and permit an unlimited number of bears to be killed during hunting "season." The CDFG also plans to allow trophy hunting of black bears in San Luis Obispo County, California for the first time. The hunt could begin as early as this summer, with as many as fifty black bears being hunted and killed each year, primarily in the Los Padres National Forest.
