Here is the story....

Jack had been effectively abandoned inside of a plastic crate which ultimately became his tomb. By the time that RSPCA investigators found him, he was completely emaciated and surrounded by his own waste.

It was evident that Jack has suffered horribly before his untimely death.

According to prosecutor Andrew Wiles:

“When the top of the crate was removed it was clear the dog was emaciated. There was an inch or more of faeces covering all of the floor except where the dog was laying.”

The judge who presided over this torturous case of cruelty was Judge Michael Kelly. He stated:

“This is one of the worst cases of animal cruelty I have come across.

“This dog was confined in a little cage so small it appears it could barely stand up.

“It was kept there without being allowed out at all for any exercise or freedom and was starved to death.

“You could have released the dog. You could have provided food for it. You were offered help and advice from the RSPCA.

“I can’t think that any human being would have failed to recognise the suffering and distress of this dog.”

Several months before the tortured dog's body was discovered, RSPCA inspectors visited Lockhurst's home and advised that the dog not be kept inside of the plastic crate, offered training advice and even suggested that Jack be surrendered.

Unfortunately for the then 16-week-old puppy, the pair heeded none of the advise.

Instead, the dog was subjected to a dismal existence fraught with torment and agony.

No doubt, the day that Jack breathed his final breath, it was with great relief.

Brunsden has been banned from ever owning an animal again and Lockhurst may face a similar sentence.

The man defending Lockhurst attempted to deflect the blame for this cruelty on the woman's emotional problems and learning disabilities. She has been spending time in a respite center and her sentencing will take place in September.

Regardless, in light of this dog's incredible suffering, there is no sentence which will ever be quite enough.

On the evening of July 26th, two dogs got out of their home because a child got a hold of the garage door remote and accidentally pressed the button. A family member was watching the kids and didn’t even realize what had happened and that the dogs were loose. The dogs, Dre and Machomotto, were running amuck thru the neighborhood. Dre was barking at people and apparently some lady jumped into her car...for whatever that is worth. Several people called animal control and someone called 911 reporting vicious dogs running loose. Supposedly it took 5 officers to obtain Dre, thou NOT ONE person was injured; bitten or scratched. 

Imagine having 5 strangers chasing you.

The police/animal control released MachoMotto (not a Pit Bull), but have have quarantined Dre (Pit Bull, not even sure if he's full or mix) labeling him "vicious".
Dre has a court date of Tuesday, July 31 at 10:00am and is being hed until then. There is very little time to try to plea to the judge that Dre is not the dog they are labeling him as. Both a Police Officer and an Animal Control Officer have said they will be going to court to plea with the judge to have "the dog" destroyed. To clarify, his name is Dre and he is a family member who has never hurt anyone.

By the middle of the 19th century, the lynx had become locally extinct in most countries of Central and Western Europe.

The lynx population in Poland is about 200, where hunting and habitat loss have reduced their numbers.

Despite the European Lynx being listed as a protected species by The Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats, and as a species in need of strict protection by the Habitats Directive, the lynx is still hunted number of countries, including Sweden, Norway, Latvia, Estonia, Croatia, Slovenia and Romania.

We've  discovered that shocking experiments on kittens have taken place at Cardiff University.

Some kittens were raised in complete darkness while others were deprived of the sight in one eye by having their eyelids sewn shut. The kittens were then anaesthetised, artificially ventilated and paralysed with a drug to prevent eye movements. They were then subjected to highly invasive head surgery during which the skin was cut away, the skull was opened and the brain was exposed for recordings.

After various tests, all the kittens were killed and parts of their brain removed for analysis.

Sophisticated methods of studying vision and the neurologic processes underlying it in human beings already exist. Not only is this experiment inhumane, it is unnecessary for human health.

Ricky Gervais has joined the BUAV in calling for an end to these experiments: “I am appalled that kittens are being deprived of sight in one eye by having their eyelids sewn shut. I thought sickening experiments like these were a thing of the past. I support the BUAV in calling for this research to be stopped.”

Cardiff University have sewn up the eyes of 30 kittens from birth as an experiment. In the name of science researchers from Cardiff University have taken 30 kittens and sewn up their eyes to see the effect of sensory deprivation. This cruel unethical experiment is meant to be a break view for "lazy eye" which effects 1 in 3 children in Britain a year. However only a small percent of those suffering which "lazy eye" have a massive effect in sight because of this disease.

This is funded by tax payers without their knowledge; until a leak in the media by university students who disagreed with the experiement. The experiment its self would of been very painful and stressful for the kittens; it also does not apply with British Animal Welfare laws and pervents the kittens following natural patterns important in their mental and physical growth.

The kittens will now suffer life long phycological effects from being raised in the darkness and removing the stiches would cause great stress and pain to the kittens who have already suffered so much. Cardiff University plans to have these kittens "put down" once the experiment is down. They also plan to redo this experiment at four or five times to see how the results differ.

If anyone else had sewn up a kitten's eyes they would be arrested and charge with violation of animal welfare rights; so why is it okay to do it in the name of science? This experiment did not need to be done; especially in this cruel and crude manner. We need Cardiff University to stop these experiments before anymore innocent and defencless kittens from suffering in the name of "science". A message needs to be sent that science does not put you above the law and that you can't do what you please just in the name of "science"

Every year, about 250,000 bulls are killed in bullfights -- stabbed multiple times with barbed lances and banderillas (spiked wooden sticks) before suffering slow, agonizing deaths in front of an audience, including children. 


Now, even though bullfighting attendance is at an all-time low and bans have been enacted by several countries and cities, Portugal  Spain and France are trying to protect this cruel "bloodsport" by getting it listed as a form of "cultural heritage". 


Bullfights aren't "fair fights" between a bull and a matador. They're highly staged forms of animal cruelty, sanctioned and subsidized by governments. A UNESCO "cultural heritage" listing would give a veneer of respectability to the torture of animals for public entertainment and mean subsidies may be made available to financially safeguard the future of bullfighting.

"Hounding" is an inhumane and unsporting practice where trophy hunters use packs of radio-collared dogs to chase down bears and bobcats before the hunter shoots the terrified animal off a tree branch. Even alot of hunters consider this cruel and inhumane practice unfair and unsportsmanlike.

While mountain lions are protected from the cruelty of hound hunting, bears and bobcats are not.

Wicca is a beloved 5 yr old American Staffordshire Bull Terrier who has been deemed a dangerous dog by the city of Montreal despite the fact that she only grazed a woman on the abdomen when she spooked her lying next to her owner, on leash on a terrasse. We the people request that Wicca's execution be overturned. Normally, an incident as mild as this warrants a 90 day muzzle order, a fine and an evaluation by a canine professional. Wicca was never given that opportunity . Her case is going to be heard by the court of appeals on July 25th. 2012

Piggy is a lovable, eternal puppy that is loved by all...although currently not loved by Riverside Humane officers, her nieghbors, or the jogger that she scared. Piggy has been impounded for scaring a jogger, she did not maul anyone or anything. Her love of the outside world found her on her second offense for escaping the family yard, which is a 1/2 acre, fenced in, secure doggy playground. So that is what happened...now what can be done. Please share her story. Piggy and family will learn her fate, which yesterday (7/19) it has been determined, it is strongly recommended by the courts and the family neighbor, that she be "destroyed". This will happen in now 5 days of her 14 day hold.

Piggy is a Pit Bull. What does that statement mean to you? Well to her family, she is a laughable, eternal puppy, loved by all who meet her, two or four legged. She is surrounded by people pets, and children all the time, because if you knew her family, there is always a reason to celebrate at their house. Piggy's #1 fan, besides her mama, is her 2 year old human niece, Stella. Yesterday, during the hearing, the cries of Stella were heard, while wearing a "Free Piggy" tee-shirt of "PIGGY OUT", "GrAnnie, PIGGY OUT"!

There are families who are not responsible with their pets...this is not the case. Just recently the world was brought to their knees with the case of Lennox, the N. Irelend Pit Mix that was impounded for 2 yrs for measuring to be of a "Pit Bull" type dog, not for any action of his. After the worlds cries to release him...he was "destroyed". Yet less then 2 weeks later a very similar story is being played out in the US.

Background (Preamble):
Since 1997, The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has investigated and documented the international trade in dog and cat fur and skins. This undercover investigation has spanned the globe from source countries in China, the Philippines, & Thailand to retailers and wholesalers in the United States, Russia, and the European Union.

Over two million dogs and cats are slaughtered each year for their furs and skins, mostly in China and other Asian countries. Investigators documented 50,000 to 100,000 cat pelts stockpiled at animal byproduct factories in China. At least ten dogs are slaughtered to make a single coat, more if puppies are used. Up to 24 cats are slaughtered to make one fur coat. Dog and cat fur is used in trims, linings, hats, decorative figurines, and folk remedies. Skins are used in dog chew toys and shoe leather.

The slaughter of these animals is violent and pitiless.Cats are strangled inside their cages as other cats look on. Dogs are noosed about the neck by metal wires, and then slashed across the groin. The wire noose cuts into their throats as they struggle in pain before finally losing consciousness. In Harbin China, HSUS investigators documented a German shepherd still blinking and conscious as he was being skinned. At a dog farm several hours north of Harbin, investigators documented dead dogs hanging from hooks as others, still alive, awaited their fate outside the same cold, dismal room.

An investigator from Swiss Animals Protection/East International said:"Conditions on Chinese fur farms make a mockery of the most elementary animal welfare standards...In their lives and their unspeakable deaths, these animals have been denied even the simplest acts of kindness."

Susi, a 36-year-old African elephant cow who was born in the wild on the African savannah, has reportedly been suffering depression since Alicia, her female companion of six years, died early last year.

9. At Solomon Klein Hospital in Cochabamba, 3,000 anti-rabies vaccines were burnt, which made the municipal veterinarians come out and start killing every dog, covering up the vaccine disaster to SEDES (Government Health Officials).

10. Cats and dogs which present a nuisance, or are no longer wanted, are simply hung by the neck in houses or trees, in sight of everyone.11. All kinds and species of animals are poisoned throughout the year, with strychnine, thus forming a "death chain", endangering public health and damaging the environment - this goes on in Sucre, Potosi, Oruro, Cochabamba, Las Minas and other departments.
