Interior Secretary Ken Salazar is currently accepting comments on potential changes to regulations governing implementation of a key provision of the Endangered Species Act. The affected provision requires federal agencies to consult with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife or National Marine Fisheries Services to ensure their actions don't jeopardize the continued existence of endangered species or harm their critical habitat.

Before next Monday, August 3rd, please submit comments to Secretary Salazar expressing support for a strong Endangered Species Act and opposing any changes to the regulations that reduce consultation, narrow the circumstances under which federal agencies must consult, or create specific exemptions for greenhouse gas emissions or other pollutants.

Both bills seek to establish Greyhound racing in Cebu and Luzon respectively. Their proponents tout Greyhound racing as an economic stimulus providing jobs and raising the standard of living in the immediate areas. But, historically, the opposite is true. Moral decay, crime, and hideous animal cruelty has been the norm. If both bills become law, the only beneficiaries will be the Fox New Millemium Amusement Club Inc. (FNMACI, Bill 5291) and the Southeast Asia Greyhound Racing Club Inc. (SAGRC, Bill 5648).


Thirty-six of the fifty American states prohibit Greyhound racing, and more tracks are folding across the country. Profit and attendance are down. People are simply no longer interested in Greyhound racing, a direct result of failed economic promises and the exposure of horrendous animal cruelty practiced in the business. Guam, just recently, ended their dog racing practice. New Hampshire closed down their tracks for good last month. One might ask, why is there an attempt to embrace something that others are hurriedly rejecting? Filipinos deserve better. The Philippines need not be the trash bin of the world.


Surely, the time and initiave of some legislators were wasted on these bills. Their ingenuity could bear better fruit if applied on more pressing matters like the establishment of a government-funded spay and neutering program. There are an estimated 3.2 million stray animals in the Philippines. Just look out your window if you're in the Philippines.

We tried to negotiate but our voices and appeals were not heard. We tried to locate our cats but they asked us to forget about it and this event was over. The Town Council did not send the captured cats to relevant authorities which are Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore and SPCA, but some unknown areas which they refuse to reveal.

We are a voice for chained and penned dogs, whose sadness speaks only through the eyes. As the days become years, many of these dogs sit, lay, eat, and defecate within the same 10-foot radius. Chained by the neck, they exist without respect, love, exercise, social interaction, and sometimes even basic nourishment. They live as prisoners, yet long to be pets.
Chaining is not only inhumane for dogs, but has taken a severe toll on this nation's children as well. My goal is to stop the practice of euthanasia by gassing for ALL shelter animals in the state of Texas.

If your heart will allow it, you should do a search, for video on the web, that shows the results of being gassed to death. It is heartwrenching to watch.
Some of the larger animals are still alive, when they come out of the kill box. They are still breathing, or struggleing to breath. The animals, cry, scream out loud and claw and climb on top of each other trying to get out.
It is Horrific to watch.
For any and all of us to stand by and NOT try to do SOMETHING to stop this barbaric practice is appalling.

Often, animals who are put down are lost pets, and were not claimed before their mandatory hold period expired. This happens for many reasons - pets get lost while their owners are on vacation, on business trips, etc. Sometimes pets have traveled so far from home that their owners aren't even searching in the right shelters.
Many pets escape the yard. Some are strays and some, the owner can no longer care for in this economy and are owner surrender, or abandoned on forclosed property.
Must these pets die in this awful fashion because their owners did not retrieve them? Or because they were not adopted from the shelter? Would you want your pet to die that way?
In todays current situation, more and more pet owners, are turning their dogs into the shelter, or turning them loose to be picked up as strays.
Convicted murderers are put to death by lethal injection, but not our faithful companions. How does that really speak of us?

Even though a majority of the shelters in the state use euthanasia by injection, several still use outdated, inhumane gas chambers. Shelter workers overwhelmingly wish to hold and comfort a frightened animal in its final moments of life. That act may be the only kindness the animal has ever known.


The American Humane Association considers euthanasia by injection to be the only acceptable and humane means of euthanasia for animals in animal shelters. They do NOT think gassing is an acceptable means.

Such outdated practices also create public outcry and demean the purpose of an animal shelter.
Space is so limited in Texas shelters that animals don't have much time. Many shelters are currently overflowing...but that is another petition.

They say, just one person, can make a change, well I can only start the change inititive, I really cannot do it without YOU.

Such outdated practices also create public outcry and demean the purpose of an animal shelter.
The ideal way to deal with these animals is a NO-KILL situation.

McPhee has called for a five year ban on the sale of pets in order to aid the efforts of controlling the pet overpopulation. Pet animals should not be bred while pet animals die.

We believe that good breeders will get behind this initiative because it will clean up the industry from backyard breeders, puppy/kitten mill owners, and bunny/ferret farms. We are not looking for a permanent ban on the sale of pet animals but in these extraordinary economic times, it is absolutely necessary.

We have all been given life, humans and non-humans. Our hope is to die and be buried with dignity. Well, this weekend this sweet dog did not get that dignity. She was dumped off at a dumpster(not in the dumpster), she was put in 2-3 heavy duty trash bags and wrapped in a heavy blue blanket; not sure if she was taped up or she died of other causes. She was dumped off at County Home Learning Center N183/ Balconies Drive(near Balconies Country Club). Was she abused? Did anyone love her? If someone did love her why did they dump her like trash, wait, they did not even take the time to put her in the dumpster. I called AC and the police, unfortunately no-one could/would do anything for this poor dog. Every entity had an excuse/reason. This is sad for Travis County. May this precious dog rest in peace.




The Detective is dismissing this case as just a decomposing animal. She feels the someone's dog died over the weekend and they did not have any where to take her and Animal Control would not pick-up until Monday; so they dumpted her at the dumpster. I don't feel that is case, I think there is more to this and the detective is just passing this poor dog by.

It is not necessary to be a biologist or a ranger in order to spot that
there are no wild animals in most parts of Serbia. It is sufficient to be a
humane person and have a walk in a forest or a plane and notice that there
is no life, except plants'. There are even no unprotected birds, let alone
the protected ones. You may spot a hare here and there what concerns
bigger animals, but in thirty visits to nature you'll see only one
ran-over fox with its dead offspring.
In spite of these facts, the officials do not undertake a measure, which
is adopted in many countries – ban hunt. May be hunting is not an
exclusive cause of the deserted nature, but it is certainly the main one.

Not only because of the numerous guns in merciless hands, but also for the
disturbance, which hunt causes in an area for a long time, and also
because of the hurting of people, which often occurs. Instead of the
«traditional» chases, followed by folk's festivities, the last could be
organised with shooting artificial targets and lectures of celebrities,
who promote animal rights.

It is also known that artificial raising of «game» causes misbalance in
nature, because the so raised individuals do not comply with the rules,
characteristic to their species. For instance, the ducks from incubators
do not hatch their eggs, in that way reducing the total number of «fowl».
Here we do not ponder over guesses whether there is criminal in hunting
in general, «mafia», abuses etc. We are concerned with the well-being of the
natural world in our country. Therefore we demand

1. Ban on all kinds of hunting, including chases, for at least three
years, in all seasons.
2. Permanent ban on hunting migrating birds in all seasons.
3. Strict control of every kind of fishing.
4. Escalating all penalties for breach of the aforementioned and all
existing limitations, permanent disarming inclusive.
5. Permanent ban on breeding “fowl”.

At the end of the second year it will be possible to allow hunting boars
(exclusively), if they become very numerous in some areas. Such a permit
will be issued by the Ministry of agriculture, water management, and
forestry.

The aforementioned measures will be carried out on the whole of the
Serbian territory. Adequate non-governmental organisations should be
included in the control of their implementation. They should also help
hunters to take care of their dogs, if they don’t want to keep them. The
NGOs should aid the organisations, that live of hunting, to organise
tourist or ecological activities, the so called “safari-tourism”,
excursions with cameras etc. There are many more persons with cameras than
those with guns.


We, the undersigned, demand:

1. Ban on all kinds of hunting, including chases, for at least three
years, in all seasons.

2. Permanent ban on hunting migrating birds in all seasons.

3. Strict control of every kind of fishing.

4. Escalating all penalties for breach of the aforementioned and all
existing limitations, permanent disarming inclusive.

Don't Kill Boston's Zoo Animals!

Governor Deval Patrick, in a line item veto of the proposed 2010 budget for Massachusetts, cut funding for the Franklin Park Zoo (New England's largest zoo) and the Stoneham Zoo by over 61%, from 6.5 million to only 2.5 milliom. According to Zoo New England, which manages the zoos, such drastic cuts could force the zoos to close, and as many of 20% of the animals currently at the zoos could be killed because officials are unlikely to find new homes for them. (Read more in the Boston Globe)

It would be a travesty and an outrage for the state of Massachusetts to allow these animals to be killed because of budget difficulties. We know that economic times are tough - but these are innocent animals, confined to these zoos by humans. These animals should not suffer for our inability to manage our money.

Whatever your feelings are about zoos, please stand up for the lives of these animals and insist that the state of Massachusetts either restore the funds for the zoos immediately or ensure that ALL animals are relocated to sanctuaries to allow these majestic creatures to live out their lives in peace.

Concerns are of a dual nature. That is to say, there is concern for both the health of the animal ingesting the feed and for food safety as humans eating the edible end products of these animals may be exposed to contaminants. Safety concerns are varied depending on the source of poultry litter and manure. There is also potential for pathogenic microbial contamination, i.e. , bacteria such as Salmonella, E. coli and Clostridium botulinum. The transfer of residues of drugs approved for use in poultry may result in residues in manure and litter. Other concerns include chemical contaminants such as heavy metals and pesticides which may accumulate in poultry waste products."


Given the above quote from CFIA, I am left with only one conclusion to arrive at --- US chicken feces, metaphorically, does not "stink" --- you and I both know this is utterly ridiculous, and pure nonsense.

What should be noted here, and is totally uncomprehendable to me is that even with our Canadian Governments ban on the feeding of feces to livestock in Canada, and their warnings, our CFIA still allows over 250 million pounds of US beef to be imported into Canada each year.

We the undersigned are asking you the Dairy Farmers of Ontario (DFO) to immediately disconnect and remove the "Shock Bars"and "Tail Restraints" from your "Tie Stall" dairy cow barns in Ontario Canada. We find your practice of shocking dairy cows to keep them from naturally humping their back to Urinate and Poo totally unacceptable. In our opinion the practice of restraining the dairy cows tail so that she cannot naturally "swish" an itch or flies amounts to "cruel and unusual punishment", Quite like tying a humans hands and putting them in a fly infested environment. We understand that the "sole reason" for these "Barbaric" practices is the convenience of the Farmer and these practices do not contribute in any positive way to the welfare of the cows or the milk quality. This type of "torture" would NOT even be allowed in Guantanamo, you must end it NOW! Your ending these practices would require very little time an NO capital cost. Until you do end these practices, we the consumers of your milk products PROMISE to do everything we can to reduce our milk consumption.

"It has come to our attention that the "business deal" between Hatem Yavus and "Seal Man" Francois Hugo is not a done deal and we are horrified that the innocent lives of thousands of Cape Fur seals is still very much at stake with their fur destined for the popular fur market in the Middle East and China.
Unless Francois Hugo ( http://www.sealalertsa.wordpress.com ) can produce around $14million within days, the Sealers will go ahead with the scheduled slaughter. The Namibian Government remains unmoved by this event and insists that it has a constitutional right to do with its "resources" what it will to generate revenue for the country. With the population of Cape Fur seals facing extinction, this will not be for long. Please do not sign this petition if you have already signed our "13 Days to the Worlds largest Seal slaughter" as we will now combine those signatures collected and the ones raised with this petition, and forward them all on to the Namibian Director of Tourism and The Director of Environmental Affairs. The "business" of sealing is a complicated, ugly and a largely illegal affair and it seems our only course of action is to pressure the Namibian Government directly by pledging to boycott tourism to that country unless this barbaric and unsustainable culling is halted...forever!
