Jack had been effectively abandoned inside of a plastic crate which ultimately became his tomb. By the time that RSPCA investigators found him, he was completely emaciated and surrounded by his own waste.
It was evident that Jack has suffered horribly before his untimely death.
According to prosecutor Andrew Wiles:
“When the top of the crate was removed it was clear the dog was emaciated. There was an inch or more of faeces covering all of the floor except where the dog was laying.”
The judge who presided over this torturous case of cruelty was Judge Michael Kelly. He stated:
“This is one of the worst cases of animal cruelty I have come across.
“This dog was confined in a little cage so small it appears it could barely stand up.
“It was kept there without being allowed out at all for any exercise or freedom and was starved to death.
“You could have released the dog. You could have provided food for it. You were offered help and advice from the RSPCA.
“I can’t think that any human being would have failed to recognise the suffering and distress of this dog.”
Several months before the tortured dog's body was discovered, RSPCA inspectors visited Lockhurst's home and advised that the dog not be kept inside of the plastic crate, offered training advice and even suggested that Jack be surrendered.
Unfortunately for the then 16-week-old puppy, the pair heeded none of the advise.
Instead, the dog was subjected to a dismal existence fraught with torment and agony.
No doubt, the day that Jack breathed his final breath, it was with great relief.
Brunsden has been banned from ever owning an animal again and Lockhurst may face a similar sentence.
The man defending Lockhurst attempted to deflect the blame for this cruelty on the woman's emotional problems and learning disabilities. She has been spending time in a respite center and her sentencing will take place in September.
Regardless, in light of this dog's incredible suffering, there is no sentence which will ever be quite enough.
Dear friends, On Dec 28,2012, workers from the Park Services in Calarasi Romania, buried ALIVE 10 puppies, in a park down town, right in front of the Town Hall. Fortunately, the passers by and residents from that area, heard the doggies screams and alerted the Police. All the puppies have been saved BUT, we join the Romanian Federation for the Protection of Animals and the Environment ( FPAM ) and all Romanian animals rights activists, to ASK for the harshest punishments for these individuals who committed such and atrocity.
We hope that the legal complains and the international outrage about this crime, will force the Local Law Enforcement agencies to fully apply the law in force in Romania for the protection of animals, and will punish in the most severe way these individuals.
There might be the tendency to cover up or to find and excuse or , who knows what....and THIS tendency MUST STOP...it is far too common to let let people who commit crimes against animals to walk free, to get a small fine or even not to get charged at all.
The time has come for Romania to implement and APPLY the laws of the land. Romanian Police does not take the Law 9/2008, for the protection of animals seriously, and many times acts as if THIS law does not even exist.
We ask for a thorough and tough investigation and for the harshest punishment of all the individuals involved.
Please help stop this violence! The perpetrators of these murders that take place in turkey cannot be found. Even if the offenders are caught, the so called "punishment" given to them is a joke as they are released by paying only a few bucks (most of the time this fine is converted into an installment plan for the offender's convenience) We, the animal rights activists are striving to change the turkey animal protection law 5199 that is not enough. The researches show that the next victims of the offenders that commit these brutal crimes are the children, the elderly and the disabled, who make up the weakest links in the society. Even though we obtained a promise from the government for the change of the current inadequate law 5199, for some reason this promise is yet to be fulfilled. The signatures will be a reminder for the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. We are grateful for your signatures! We hope these painful incidents will never take place on our planet again!
in the case of: Anthony Glenn Johnson vs Milagro
Dear Sir,
I am writing to you in regard to the case of animal abuse against the cat named Milagro by Anthony Green Johnson.
I would like you to advocate for the fullest sentence allowed by law in this case of animal torture. Many people have been appalled by this story and people such as Mr. Johnson need to be punished fully for their crimes against animals.
Animal abuse is a crime and people who abuse animals go on to harm people. They should not be able to free in society if they can do this to an animal.
Thank you for your consideration.

On Monday, March 14, 2011 between the hours of 8:00am and 10:00am our beloved dog Taz escaped from our yard. I had been sent home from work because it was raining and windy. I am in construction so this is very common in the winter months. When I arrived home I saw Taz was not there, so I immediately began to look for him. After a couple of hours of looking for him I called the pound and was advised I needed to contact Mike Horton with the Klamath County Animal Control.
German Shepherd Dogs were found living in their own waste without food, water or heat in a house of horrors in February in Cresco, PA, USA. There were 10 dogs total, 3 were found dead and the others were emaciated, matted and covered in feces and urine. These dogs were continuelly breed, never saw the light of day, and never left their jail cells.
Peter Zervas, who ownes the sucessful Blue Comet Diner in Hazelton, PA, USA, left the dogs without any care for approximately a month or more in the brutally cold winter.
Zervas told police that he paid somebody to take care of the dogs but did not know the man's phone number or address. This is not Zervas's first brush with the law. In 1991 he was arrested for receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy and corrupt organizations for his involvement with a burglary ring.
These full grown German Shepherds weighed between 40-45 lbs when found. Normal weight for this breed is 65-95 lbs. This video tells it all. http://www.wnep.com/videobeta/c49371a2-dfdd-4fba-99e6-c996303ff0ed/News/Neighbors-Rescue-Neglected-Dogs
Please don't let the justice system give him a "slap on the wrist" for his crimes. He needs to be given jail time. Please sign this petition.
Peter Zervas, owner of the Blue Comet diner in Hazelton, PA will appear before Judge John D. Whitesell on MARCH 30TH @ 9:30 AM on charges of animal cruelty stemming from the starvation deaths of 3 German Shepherds and the emaciated condition of the remaining 7 German Shepherds.
Police near Hazleton, responding to a call about abandoned dogs, found a horrific scene in a dark garage with dead and dying German Shepherds, including puppies, lying in filth.
A neighbor in the town of Swiftwater discovered the abandoned dogs and reported it to police.
When police arrived, they found three dead puppies and seven starving adult dogs. They were transported to veterinary hospitals in very poor condition, rescuers said.
A vet estimated the dogs went for a month without food.
It is now time that Peter Zervas answers to 10 counts of animal cruelty. Please join us in asking Judge Whitesell to bestow the maximum sentence for this horrific crime.
Greenville, S.C. - Losing faith in humanity, one dog at a time. Unbelievably, another story about a dog caught on fire at the hands of cruel people. Yesterday, a story about Lady, the dog doused with gasoline and lit on fire on Halloween.
This morning, a heart-wrenching story of a dog in Greenville suffering from extensive burns after his dog house was set on fire. It gets worse...the dog house was over-turned on the dog, the dog was chained, and there was a cinderblock placed on the dog's head to prevent him from moving.
The dog had been left behind by his owner at a home that was for sale. The owner left the dog chained in the backyard so that he could "keep an eye on things'. How a chained dog, confined to an empty backyard is supposed to protect a home is a mystery....
A neighbor told WYFF4 News that the burned dog had been chained in the backyard for 11-12 years. Though the neighbor was stating that the dog never caused anyone any trouble, her statement is profoundly sad.
In the neighbor's statement, there is no mention that it is tragic that the dog spent 11-12 years on the end of a chain. There is no mention that it is heart-breaking that the dog was alone in the backyard, a vulnerable target to predators.
The burned dog, named Pookie, is currently being treated at the North Greenville Animal Hospital. He is in severe pain from injuries to his face, especially his eyes and nose. However, he is expected to survive.
The homeowner/dog owner has relinquished her rights to the dog and Pookie will be in need of a new home. Individuals interested in adopting Pookie can phone Animal Care Services at 864-467-3950.
Individuals hoping to help donate funds for Pookie's medical care can either call 864-467-3954, or mail donations to: Animal Care Services at 328-C Furman Hall Rd., Greenville, SC 29609.
Anyone with information on the burning of this innocent dog is asked to phone the Greenville Police. Tips can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME, or the Greenville County Sheriff's office, 864-467-5357, or Greenville Police Dept. 864-467-5268.
The incident occurred Tuesday, late afternoon at a home located in the 200 Block of Perry Avenue. If you saw anything out of the ordinary, please pick up the phone and call the police. This person must be punished.
"Ptibull dragged by truck"
PLEASE sign petition to the Charlotte Mecklenburg district attorney for the stiffest sentence possible for the monster that dragged Firu the dog behind a truck. This poor baby is fighting for his life in Dr Tom Wallrich's Vets office in Valdese, NC. An arrest has been made.

An animal control officer has been pulled off the streets after Dallas city officials concluded he acted inappropriately when he tried to force a dog with shattered legs to stand up and walk, and then dragged it to an animal control vehicle.
The Labrador retriever mix was euthanized a short time later at a city facility.
Charles Jackson, who has worked as an animal control officer for about four years, could face disciplinary action over Tuesday afternoon's incident, which has outraged animal rescue advocates. Jackson could not be reached for comment.
"I'm very saddened that a dog should have to go through that right before he's euthanized," said Judi Burnett, an animal rescue advocate with Companions for Life.
Dallas police Senior Cpl. Joshua Merkel documented what happened about 12:30 p.m. after he and another officer were called to a report of an injured dog on Interstate 30 near Grand Avenue.
The officers found the dog with shattered rear legs and internal bleeding, his report stated. Jackson and another animal control officer were sent to the scene.
"The animal control officer muzzled the injured dog and attempted to get (the) dog to stand and walk to (the) animal control vehicle," Merkel wrote. "The dog whimpered in pain ... at which time the animal control officer began dragging the injured dog to the animal control vehicle and picking it up by grabbing the dog's rear fur. The dog again whimpered and the animal control officer dropped the dog."
Seeing that the animal control officer was causing the 55-pound tan-colored dog "unnecessary pain," Merkel intervened and helped place the injured dog into the animal control vehicle, the report said.
Merkel's supervisors instructed him not to talk to the media.
"It was inappropriate to have used the catch pole in this incident because the animal was wounded and could not walk," said Joey Zapata, director of the code compliance division, which includes animal services.
The incident marked the latest controversy to buffet the troubled Dallas animal services department, which only weeks ago saw shelter manager Tyrone McGill indicted on charges of felony animal cruelty after authorities said he ignored the plaintive crying of a cat trapped in a wall at the shelter until it starved to death. He remains on administrative leave.
A short time later, the department's highest-ranking manager, Kent Robertson, resigned, citing impending city layoffs.
Another animal control employee, Donnie Jones, is also on administrative leave over a separate incident where a cat was injured after Jones used a catch pole on it in late August. The devices are not supposed to be used on cats.
Jones had been previously counseled after he left two severely burned dogs in kennels rather than notifying someone in 2009.
"We have a terrible situation over there," said Elaine Munch, president of the Metroplex Animal Coalition, a coalition of 52 animal rescue groups in the Dallas area. "The ship is rudderless at Dallas animal services."
Zapata said he and his staff take the concerns of animal rescue advocates seriously.
"That's why in every instance we are taking appropriate action, including putting employees on administrative leave, conducting full investigations and cooperating with any criminal investigations," Zapata said. "At the same time, we are taking steps to make sure that we have a good management structure at the shelter."
Zapata said the department's procedures do not speak to exactly how an injured animal should be handled, but do state that animal control officers should transport the animal to veterinary treatment as quickly as possible. He said animal control officers do not routinely carry tranquilizer drugs in the field.
The dog in Tuesday's incident was microchipped, indicating that it was someone's pet, he said. The department will attempt to contact the owner to let him know of the dog's death, Zapata said.
"The police officer did the right thing," he said. "We need to have that kind of feedback whenever something is handled inappropriately."
They break strays' legs with iron rods to catch the crippled dogs easier just to kill them afterwards! The animals of INDIA-Lucknow Municipal Corporation-need us NOW! Pls take action!
All over the world animal cruelty is happening. Many people claim that they love their cats and dogs, call themselves animal lovers. Yet they dont hesitate to kill the offsprings of their cats and dogs. These newborn kittens and pups are often drowned, beaten to death, shot or murdered on other merciless way.
This horror must be stopped. How can this cruelty be aloud? If you dont want your cat or dog to get offspring spray and neuter it. As simple as that. I want to see strict laws against this merciless killing of innocent animals. These cats and dogs have just as much rights to live as anyone else.
We are formally requesting felony charges be brought against Cindy and Dennis Chandler in their alleged neglect and abuse of the 14 live Afghan Hounds and 2 dead ones and 1 that had to be euthanized due to '3' fractures in its leg.
The dogs were covered in their own feces and urine and were being starved to death, a slow and painful death. It was only by mere chance they were rescued.
We are asking for justice for our beloved hounds - this person allegedely did not accidentally do this - it appears to be have done with malice and intent to kill these dogs in a slow and painful manner. Her husband knew what was happening and did nothing to protect these animals (failure to protect). Please review the case thoroughly and find justice for those that can't speak.
Denver, CO - On December 30, 2009, a German shepherd mix named Buddy, was dragged to death behind the truck of Steven Clay Romero, 38, of Grand Junction.
Today, Romero has been sentenced to 36 months in Federal prison, followed by 12 months of supervised release, in addition to a $500 fine and $343.68 in restitution to Buddy's owners.
Though the punishment is the maximum allowed by law, it still seems inadequate to many individuals who were saddened by Buddy's cruel, inhumane death.
Buddy's supporters established a petition site for Buddy, as well as a Demand Justice for Buddy Facebook site. In late April, a candlelight vigil was held in Buddy's honor, as a donated memorial stone at the Roice-Hurst Humane Society was dedicated. The stone reads "For Buddy, and all the animals that have no one to weep for them."
What did I ever do to you, just a dog living my life
With the good folks I knew, now I'm so far away
But I still see you...
I don't feel the pain, it disappeared at heaven's gate
I won't be home again, but the world is at my feet
I'm on another plane, I'm everyone's Buddy.
I'm everyone's friend
I'm the dog that you once knew, I'm the love within your hand
I'm the one that you will through, the one for whom you make a stand
Thanks, I know you love me, I'm everyone's Buddy.
Well, I've been through the worst, a bad person is a curse
Take a life well that's a sin, and you know where I have been
Yeah, I know to hell and back, down a dark and snowy track
But now I feel your hearts and the love you send so far.
Well, life is what you make it and justice ain't for taking
You and I will raise it, it ain't so complicated
I'm here at your side, like every dog in every human's life
Yeah, we're gonna brave it.
Cos I'm everyone's friend
I'm the dog that you once knew, I'm the love within your hand
I'm the one that you will through, I'm the one for whom you make a stand
Thanks, I know you love me, I'm everyone's Buddy.
Man's best friend is here to the end
Always and every way we are one
Kind and true, I, I believe in you
I'm your dog your little piece of God
I pray we'll see this through
I'm just one but see what we begun
You are mine and I am yours
A better world for every one
Your hands and my paws
I'm everyone's friend
I'm the dog that you once knew, I'm the love within your hand
I'm the one that you will through, the one for whom you make a stand
Thanks, I know you love me, yeah
Cos I'm everyone's friend
I'm the dog that you once knew, I'm the love within your hand
I'm the one that you will through, the one for whom you make a stand

Eric Skowron, 34, of Toledo, Ohio and Alisha Marie King, 29, of Lambertville, Michigan kidnap a neighbors dog, shoot him and then with no regard to his suffering, they dump him back home to die ... a surveillance video captured the kidnapping. Please note that the video (date stamp is 6/23/2010) is not graphic, because you don't witness the shooting - you see the kidnap, you see his return.
Skowron and King were charged with one count of prohibitions concerning companion animal torture and one count of killing or injuring animals.
The prosecutor%u2019s office is still considering additional charges against the pair for criminal trespass, illegal discharge of a firearm, petty theft, and filing a false police report.
This was absolutely pre-mediated and staged. They kidnapped Tyson, who calmly walks next to Alisha Marie King as she leads him off the property. They took him down the road, shot him, and called 911 to report Tyson attacked their dog. Then they took him back to his home and dumped him.
Police reports show that after kidnapping and shooting Tyson, Skowron called 911 to report that he had just shot a dog who was attacking his own dog. Officers found no evidence to substantiate Skowron's claim.
The video shows Tyson limping into his yard, he stumbles and collapses.
Tyson is very blessed to have survived! He is doing very well considering the extent of his injuries, but he is not out of the woods yet. He will require surgery to remove the injured eye and the bullets that are still left in his leg.
His owners are going to need help with his medical bills. You can go to any Fifth Third Bank to make a donation. "Tending for Tyson". If you do not have a Fifth Third Bank available, you can write a check for Tending for Tyson, on the memo line put %u201CCare of Tyson%u201D, and send it to Tending for Tyson, 1308 North Reynolds Road, Toledo, Ohio 43615. Tyson%u2019s even has a Facebook. Facebook users can join his support page, Tending for Tyson.
Eric Skowdon and Alisha King have to be extremely callous, calculating and disturbed people to do something this horrific to a defenseless animal who willingly left his home with these monsters, trusting them not to harm him - and how did they repay his loyalty?? It is obvious they repaid poor Tyson with evilness.
Tyson%u2019s owners want Skowron and King to pay Tyson%u2019s huge medical bills, which was last reported to be up to $7,000.
I think that they should also be charged with absolutely every thing that the prosecutor can add to his list.
The Chief Prosecutor is David L. Toska. The office address is: Toledo Municipal Court Building, 555 N. Erie Street, Toledo, OH 43604 phone: 419.245.1975, fax: 419.245.1083. If you choose to contact the Prosecutor personally, please keep in mind that it never hurts to be polite and to the point. State your case, express your outrage, suggest they look at changing the laws if there is nothing else they can do.
On August 23rd 2010 Ms. Yolanda Glover will be granted a suppression hearing for the crime of abandoning a beautiful Greman Shepherd on her property in the dead of winter, leaving him chained and unable to even seek food or water, where as a result, he starved to death at the end of a chain. Her excuse is that her home was invaded and she ran away so fast afterward that she forgot Tramp was there and that she suffered some mental breakdown. We do not see this as anything other than an excuse made up to cover the criminal act of felony animal cruelty, he did not share her home so it is reasonable to assume she did not care for the large dog and had no interest in finding him a new home after she abanodoned him.
In the opinion of average citizens, we feel that if he had been by her side in the home, there most likely would never have been a home invasion. Tramp would have protected her with gusto, he was a German Shepherd, that's what they do. Instead of being able to protect her, he died a horribly painful and slow death because of her act of abandonment, a death that none of can bear to imagine happening to ourselves or any of our loved ones, including our beloved pets.
We are asking that all evidence against Ms. Glover be permitted to enter into evidence against her and that she be sentenced accordingly upon conviction of this crime against this innocent animal so that she may come to realize that in a civilized society, this is unnaceptable behavior.

WHEN ARE WE GOING TO SEE HARSHER PENALTIES / PUNISHMENTS FOR THE SCUM HUMANS THAT COMMIT ANIMAL ABUSE/ MURDERS?
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH....the current laws are laughable...arent they!
When are they going to get serious with these low life scum who seem to keep re offending over and over again??
PLEASE sign and share this VIP petition.
The offenders in this animal cruelty case ..
NEED TO BE SEVERELY DEALT with in court.
We want harsher penalties handed out to these 2 men who shot an innocent caged dog 6 times in the head , neck and torso!!
PLEASE Prosecutor...do the right thing here!!
A GERMAN SHEPHERD called SARGE...needs our help. ( read below *** about the shocking cruelty he endured..by his owner)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HOW MANY MORE cases of utter animal cruelty do we have to hear about?
Recently another poor dog died in South Carolina USA ..after being very cruelly left outside in the HOT SUN for days on end with no shade, no water, no food!
This poor dog died due to his owner murdering him!
And..the neighbours who turned a blind eye..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ***Background info on the offense committed on... Lawrence Mick, a 57 yr-old convicted felon, decided to shoot his caged dog in the head, neck and chest for "not settling down" according to his girlfriend, Melinda Perry. Despite repeatedly shooting his own dog multiple times, his girlfriend defends Mick stating he is "not an animal abuser- he loves animals".
YEH RIGHT !!!.. we really believe this!
According to witness / neighbor who called 911.. the dog, a German shepherd named Sarge, was quietly lying in his locked cage, when Lawrence Mick and another man, Adam Collins, came out and took turns shooting the dog.
Sarge lay in the locked cage, howling as the men continued their brutal attack - shooting the confined dog six times.
The distraught neighbor phoned 911.
THANKFULLY.. Sarge has so far survived the 6 time shooting, and he is now being cared for by the city animal shelter.
Lucas County Dog Warden.. Julie Lyle says Sarge is lucky to be alive.
"He's relatively unscathed for what he endured. He took shots that are still lodged in his body. Four to five in the head and one in the chest," said Lyle. But because Sarge has a history of biting ..( as per his owners say so), his survival may only be temporary.
NOT FAIR....dont blame Sarge ..blame his cruel owners!
( i truly hope that Sarge is given a chance at a new life, in a new kind home!)
Lawrence Mick, a convicted drug felon, is currently in the Lucas County Jail and he could receive 1-5 years in prison for discharging the 25 caliber pistol while possessing a felony conviction.
The other man, Adam Collins, 35, pleaded no contest to the animal cruelty charges and was released on his on his own recognizance.
He will stand trial on July 21.
THANKS.. to the neighbor for calling 911 and getting these 2 dangerous animal abusers arrested.
If she had turned a blind eye to the situation, Sarge would have died in his cage. As for Lawrence Mick and Adam Collins, the courts will have their day and those believing in karma know that they will get what is coming to them for their despicable actions.
Addit... please note: the dog pictured earlier is not of the real Sarge. UPDATE: as of today july 16 2010..the GSD pictured is now of the real Sarge..who is recovering at the animal shelter in Lucas County..:))
Thankyou ..NoKill Day...xoxo
