NO A LOS CAMPOS DE CONCENTRACION - CASTRACIONES MASIVAS YA!!!! - The Petition Site

Ban Animal Exploitation in Marshall, MN! - The Petition Site

The city of Marshall, MN. has continuously invited circuses into their city limits that have long histories of animal neglect and violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act (AWA). Almost all of the citations that these circuses receive are cases of sheer abuse and neglect which could have been prevented if the proper measures were taken -it is because of this that we ask for the adoption of a city-wide ordinance that will ban the use of wild and exotic animals for entertainment purposes within city limits.

Such an ordinance will not only prevent animals from being abused and exploited for entertainment, but it will also take a stand against exotic animal poaching and trade. A circus that recently visited Marshall obtained their two elephants from their native habitat. These elephants now live a subservient life performing unnatural acts that pose a risk both to the elephants themselves, but they also endanger the trainers, audiences, and communities that host the circuses.

Stop the Massive Removal of Cloud's Wild Horse Herd - The Petition Site

Stop the Massive Removal of Cloud's Wild Horse Herd - The Petition Site

Cloud and the wild horses of Montana's Pryor Mountains are world famous but fame it appears is not going to protect the herd from a drastic government round up planned to begin September 1st in their spectacular wilderness home.

There are currently only 190 wild horses (one year and older) living in the Pryor Mountains. The BLM plans to remove 70 of them, plus foals. According to the foremost equine geneticist, Dr. Gus Cothran, 150-200 adult horses are needed in the herd to ensure their genetic diversity, which is vital to their long term survival.

These 70 horses would be placed in jeopardy. Any horses over 10 years of age can be bought directly by killer buyers and transported over the Northern border to Canadian slaughterhouses or south into Mexico. Younger horses not adopted would be put into government holding with 33,000 others that the BLM has removed from the wild and has proposed killing because they can no longer afford to feed them.

BLM cites poor range condition as the reason to remove the horses but abundant snow and rain for the past two and a half years has produced wonderful range conditions according to all who have visited Cloud and his herd. The unique Pryor Mountain wild horses are descendents of the Lewis and Clark horses who were stolen by the Crow Indians in the early 1800's. They can be traced further back to the horses brought over with the Spanish Conquistadors in 1500.

Help Stop Animal Testing on Pantene

Help Stop Animal Testing on Pantene

Millions of animals are killed from animal testing per year. 94% of testing is for cosmetics and household products leaving only 6% for medical research. Products like PANTENE, neutrogena, dove, and secret deodorant have killed a majority of these animals. Please realize that most of these products don't even require animal testing.

How would you feel if you were being tortured, a slow gruesome death without having any chance to fight back. if there is nothing wrong with animal testing then why don't these products show the people the animals slowly suffering, blood red watering eyes swollen within weeks to the point that they can barely see, why don't they show you how many rabbits broke there necks trying to escape

Everything no matter how big or small has a right. Animals CAN feel EVERYTHING that is happening to them. Most of these sellers are to selfish and ignorant to realize that.

Act Now to Save Desert Tortoises

Last year, more than 250 desert tortoises died after a disastrous attempt by the Army to relocate 600 of the imperiled tortoises to make way for a tank-warfare training area in the California desert. Now, the Army and the Bureau of Land Management are rushing forward with a plan to move over 1,200 more tortoises. Originally the public was given only a tiny, 15-day window of opportunity to express itself on this lethal proposal, but you stepped up and inundated the Bureau of Land Management with more than 24,000 letters. The deadline has now been extended until August 31, 2009. And we still need your help..

The translocation effort and other threats are pushing the tortoise closer to extinction. Desert tortoise translocation has never been attempted on such a large scale. Even so-called "successful" small-scale translocation projects have had a more than 20-percent mortality rate. Having survived tens of thousands of years in California's deserts, desert tortoise numbers have declined precipitously in recent years in the face of disease, crushing by vehicles, military base expansion, suburban sprawl, habitat degradation, and predation by feral dogs and ravens.

Speak up for the tortoises today by sending a letter to the Bureau of Land Management. It’s still essential that we get a strong public response questioning the need for the translocation, demanding a full environmental review and assurances that more tortoises will not die as a result of this controversial project.

Chicken Abuse Unfolded in South Africa - The Petition Site

Saturday, 15 August 2009 0 comments

South African newspaper 'Beeld', unfolded the abuse of day old hatchlings at a renowned chicken farm, Boskop Layer Chicks (near Potchefstroom RSA), early this week. One of the owners of the farm, Mr. Jan Serfontein, is a previous MEC for agriculture, conservation and environment in the North West Province.

According to 'Beeld', the farm was allegedly found to be disposing of approximately 70 000 day old chicks, on a weekly basis, in the most inhumane and cruel fashion possible. These hatchlings are 'dumped' in a dry cement dam, where they die of hunger, exposure and thirst, normally over a period of about five days. According to a former employee, this practice allegedly commenced 70 years ago; the date at which this family organisation started its trade.

According to Serfontein's lawyer, Mr. George Gibbons, the organisation is specialising in the breeding of chickens for the egg industry, hence the reason why male chicks have to be discarded as they are 'not economically viable'.

Upon receipt of the news, Woolworths and Pick 'n Pay (two renowned RSA retailers), although not trading directly with Serfontein, indicated that they would cease their business relationship with any organisation which is guilty of animal abuse.

It's been confirmed that the NSPCA had laid a charge of animal abuse with the South African Police.

Please sign this petition in order to gain as much support possible with the aim of convincing the public prosecutor and the court of the seriousness of the said case and to ensure that the maximum penalty is being imposed upon the perpetrators.

Meat Free Monday Petitions Worldwide

http://www.saawinternational.org/mfmpetitions.htm

"In recent days a number of campaigns have sprung up aimed at persuading governments around the world to declare every Monday a meat free day in an effort to tackle climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Not only is meat production hugely carbon intensive but it is also responsible for 70% of the deforestation occuring in the Amazon rainforests, as trees are felled so that crops can be grown to feed livestock.

Promotion of a vegetarian diet is not only good for the planet but is also good for your health and of course the animals will be a lot happier too!

So please take the time to fill out each of the meat free Monday petitions. Simply click on one of the countries below and fill out the form. Together we can do it! "

Trading in Bear Parts: The Bear Protection Act | Animal Law Coalition

Help stop the trade in bear products, specifically bile and gall bladder.

A bill pending before Congress would amend the Lacey Act of 1981,16 U.S.C. §§3371, 3372, and ban the import, export and interstate trade of these bear parts.

The bill, the Bear Protection Act of 2009, H.R. 3480, was introduced by Reps. Raul M. Grijalva (D-AZ) and John Campbell (R-CA).

The bill already has 30 co-sponsors. Find out if your representative is a co-sponsor

and if not, write or call and urge him or her to sign on as a co-sponsor to H.R. 3480, the Bear Protection Act of 2009. If your U.S. representative is a co-sponsor already, thank him or her!
