The only species of seal breeding on the African continent and found nowhere else on earth. We, the tourist, have seen and read the Seal Alert-SA DVD titled "Tourist Guide to World of Cape Fur Seals". Therefore demand that all governments cease all commercial hunting of Cape fur seals either via clubbing, shooting, drowning, entanglement, culling, sport trophy hunting or live exports. To cease all cruelty in whatever form to this species. Furthermore, to stop all removal, shooing, banning or restricting of Cape fur seals breeding on offshore islands and to facilitate the repopulation of all extinct former seal breeding islands either via natural re-migration or physical re-introduction, which includes the islands of Robben, Dassen, Vondeling, Dyer, Possession, Mercury and all islands known as Seal Islands. To all other country's governments and Parliamentarians to follow the example set by the United States and the EU, and to therefore introduce legislation banning the import of all products derived from Cape fur seals. We also, demand that the United Nations World Heritage Committee UNESCO revoke the World Heritage status granted to Robben Island, until such time, as Cape fur seals have been re-populated or reintroduced back to this extinct former seal island, the largest offshore island in southern Africa, named after Cape fur seals by the Dutch early explorers.
Failure to do so will involve the boycott of your country as a tourist destination and any products exported by that country.
With each signature, we request each government to enter into discussions with Francois Hugo of Seal Alert-SA to increase the protection of Cape fur seals in southern Africa, now and into the future.

Under the United Nations World Charter for Nature. We the citizens of the world, are authorized and legally empowered to request the government's of South Africa, Namibia and Angola to accept their obligation to promote and protect the Cape fur seals. A marine mammal wildlife species, who under common international law is defined as rus nullius, belonging to nobody, and which is found nowhere else on earth.
This Declaration Petition seeks to combine all separate existing individual Petitions, which collectively have received the support of over 42 000 citizens in over 80 countries around the world.
To acknowledge that a marine mammal is not a fish, and that commercial fishing is not a legal right, if it endangers the marine eco-system in part or whole or any of the species survival within or is conducted in an unsustainable manner or diminishes current populations below their reproduction population level.
We require these governments to take the following steps to ensure the survival of this species, which was declared an endangered Appendix II species by the United Nations - Convention In Trade of Endangered Species (CITES) in 1977 :-
As this regions top marine predator, to include the seals consumption of fisheries necessary for their survival in all commercially sustainable fishery practices, bio-mass estimates and quotas, as a first priority.
Specifically, that not now or in the future their natural consumption of fish necessary for their survival be a factor never used against their continued protection.
To cease any and all interferences in seals foraging activities, migratory movement, breeding behaviour and endemic breeding habitats.
Specifically, in introducing legislation to protect specific seal islands, accounting for not less than 20 per cent of their former habitat by island and land area. To declare the surrounding sea in a 200km radius around each seal breeding habitat as a marine sanctuary with a no fishing or fishing boat entry policy.
To declare their population recorded by aerial population surveys in 2000 as the yardstick upon which all future conservation assessments will be based.
Specifically to acknowledge that is species is still recovering from over-exploitation and near extinction from the past centuries of human activity.
To cease any and all Seal Culls, Sealing, Seal Clubbing or any form of population control of this species living in an open marine eco-system.
Specifically, to end the annual cull of seal pups and bulls in Namibia and any forms of shoo-ing seals away from breeding habitat or any forms of seal shooting at sea, on land whether to safe-guard other species or for sport or for trophy hunting.
To abolish any and all forms of instruments or materials from commercial fishing practices that are harmful to the marine eco-system or each individual seal.
Specifically, to ban all instruments used to kill or disturb or frighten seals away using explosives, clubs, knives or fire-arms. To prevent all forms of non-biodegradable material being used in the fishing industry, which causes seal mutilation or entanglement or drowning.
To stop all live-capture or exports of live seals for display or amusement or research purposes.
Specifically seals captured for aquariums or zoos around the world.
To promote eco-tourism in a responsible way that does not interfere or disturb the natural behaviour of this species.
Specifically to quantity the value seals bring to the industry, the revenue generate, the number of visitors and the creation of jobs in a non-consumptive utilization of this resource.
To cease any and all invasion population surveys which involve capture, tagging, release, artificial marking or branding or which causes disturbance to the seal colony.
Specifically in regard to capturing baby seal pups still dependent and nursing, and attaching plastic or steel tags to their flippers.
To document and record all seal death's and to keep a public accessible database.
Specifically, any evidence of illegal activity must be fully investigated and appropriate fines, convictions or penalties implemented.
Under the United Nations World Charter for Nature, failure to uphold, enforce or implement any or all of the above Cape fur Seal Protection written Declarations, would empower We, the citizens of the world to take whatever lawful, legal or active processes, methods, activities or procedures to ensure the seals continued protection.
By signing this petition I authorize Francois Hugo and any of his organizations to implement whatever lawful activities is deemed necessary to protect the Cape fur seals in southern Africa.

We wish to strongly protest against the current system whereby kennels are subsidised per %u2018dog%u2019 and whereby the system is wide open for abuse. This abuse is widely recognised with several internet sites referring to the system of abuse. Your citizens are too afraid to report the abuse, because of the inherent threat of physical violence by those who are profiting from these heinous dog kennels.
Among Abuses reported but not limited to are:
01) No water in the kennel - God will provide!
02) No food in the kennel %u2013 God will provide!
03) The mortality reaching the level of 97%, like in the infamous kennel lager of Cicerale.
04) The fact that the animals don%u2019t get out of their cage for 14-15 years.
05) The fact that the puppies born in a cage die in a cage.
06) Bogus Ministerial inspections.
07) Bribes paid to those in political power in Rome who will %u2018kill off%u2019 any complaint from the public.
08) Disappearing documents: they can disappear like the documents of Cicerale suddenly dissolving into thin air.
09) Corrupt Carabinieri, NAS and/or the police.
10) Corrupt judged, offering jobs to relatives.
11) When kennels are closed, the %u2018owner%u2019 simply moves it! An example: Calasso, who moved the dogs from Cicerale to a place called Cir� Marina, in Calabria, 400 kilometres away.
12) Inhumane transporting of the dogs: Sick or blind or dying pile them up in a big van, they will be alright, and if they die it is the will of God: the Lord gives life and takes it away.
13) Dogs left to literally rot in their cages, in their own faeces: then eating the dogs eat the carcasses!
14) No medical attention provided: Broken bones, open wounds, festering abscesses, bleeding wounds.
15) No dipping of dogs infected with mange: The terrible agony as the parasites eat away %u2013 and infecting other dogs.
16) If there is not enough dogs then the kennel owners allow litter upon litter of puppies %u2013 as your current subsidy works on %u2018er dog%u2019 system
17) Little to nil access to the public for adoption viewing. Any dog adopted will reduce the subsidy value received from the local municipality!
What is very clear from the above facts is that this %u2018subsidy%u2019 system is wide open to abuse, and that criminal elements in Italy are now the de facto kennel owners.
01) We ask you to immediately investigate this corrupt system %u2013 to change the law.
02) We ask you to immediately send in impartial inspectors (not corrupt and bribed law officers) to report on every kennel in Italy.
03) We ask you to immediately shut down all of these %u2018bogus%u2019 kennels and have the animals removed to legitimate kennels %u2013 we can provide you with a list of such kennels.
04) We ask you to PUBLICLY condemn this system of animal abuse: If you do not, it clearly means you condone this abuse!
We hereby inform you that we will run a massive internet campaign to boycott tourism of Italy and all Italian products until the government of Italy has shown not only that it has the will to enforce the animal protection laws of Italy BUT also to root out the corruption and bribery system endemic in your municipalities.

We the undersigned plead & urge you to put an end to cruel animal euthanasia by gas chamber & heartstick methods.As we are all aware the shelter workers are in physical health danger from the carbon monoxide being used & possibilty of chamber explosion which has already happened.The mental stress on these workers is also an issue as they see & hear the agony of the animals.These animals are being treated as if criminals which don't even go through this.25-30 animals at a time are stuffed into the chamber,screaming,howling,crying out,choking,vomiting,fighting each other,urinating,deficating & banging their heads against the chamber wall.Many convulse go into comas & are buried alive or thrown in the garbage alive.These are living,breathing,feeling,innocent & speechless beings.Some have lost their homes,have known nothing but abuse & neglect.There is not one humane aspect in this.It is totally unacceptable.We as a nation should be setting an example in being humane.The places where it has been deemed appropriate to use gas on vicious dogs is also unacceptable as there are other ways to euthanize them and some shelters are not sticking to that one rule & are gasing other animals.These animals are also suffering going without food & water for hours before the chamber so they do not make as much of a mess.Heartstick method when the animal is not under full sedation is also cruel.The best way is through IV (via a vein).Please help us outlaw something that was a horrible & gruesome part of human history & should not exist anywhere in the U.S.We thank you for your time & understanding on this issue.

In dealing with the loss of our dog Coco who was shot by an officer, we want to ensure that this injustice will stop before it happens again to another dog and another family.In the fight that we are in we are fighting not only for Coco but for all the pit bulls and owners out there who get a bad wrap because of the breed they represent. Update February 17, 2010: Grace's Law, H.B. 788, introduced by Georgia state Rep. Tom Knox has passed the Science and Technology Committee. The vote was unanimous in favor of the bill that would close the loopholes in Georgia's Humane Euthanasia Act that still allow some counties and cities to use carbon monoxide gas chambers to kill shelter animals. The bill would also make it illegal by statute to use heartstick unless the animal is heavily sedated, unconscious or comatose.
It's now on to a vote by the full Georgia House of Representatives!
During the 2009 session, similar versions were tabled after House and Senate committee hearings.
Under this version carbon monoxide gas chambers along with decompression chambers and use of exhaust from gasoline engines and cruel heartstick would not be allowed as means to kill shelter animals. The bill is named Grace's Law for a dog that survived a ghastly CO gassing in Liberty County.
In almost all cases animals would be required to be euthanized by a lethal injection or oral ingestion of sodium pentobarbitol. There would be an exception for field emergencies. Also, another substance could be substituted for sodium pentobarbital, but it must be regarded as humane and approved by the American Veterinary Medical Association. None of the neuromuscular blocking agents would be allowed as substitutes, however. (Those agents render the animal immobile but fully conscious and aware of what is happening.)
Only a trained person could perform euthanasia and animals could not be left unattended during this process.
H.B. 788 would also regulate the injections. Intravenous injection would be preferred with intraperitoneal available only if the former cannot be used.
The bill is clear that intracardial injection or heartstick can only be used on unconscious, heavily sedated or comatose animals.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
It is important that only Georgia residents write or call legislators in support of this bill, H.B. 788. The bill is now in the Rules Committee and this committee will schedule the bill for a vote by the full House of Representatives. So go here to find Rules Committee members (click on the names to get contact info) and write (faxes or letters are best, no email) or call and urge them to schedule a vote on this bill, H.B. 788 and vote Yes to end cruel gas chambers and heartstick in Georgia!
Then, if you live in Georgia, find your legislators here and write (faxes or letters are best, no emails) or call and urge them to support Grace's Law, H.B. 788, and end the use of inhumane, dangerous, outmoded and expensive gas chambers and cruel heartstick in Georgia. Injustice Brampton Dogs on Death Row ( to be killed on 5 February) - Free Them Now - The Petition Site
2 dogs are scheduled to be euthanized (killed) on February 5, 2010. They were taken from their owners by Brampton Animal Services without a warrant on the premise that the dogs in question "looked" like pitbulls. The linage of the dogs is boxer/american bulldog and has been confirmed by two vets. These animals do not fall under the current Breed Specific laws of Ontario.
Theses dogs have hurt no one and the owners have not broken any laws. One of the owners is a 75 year old woman who loves her dog Rambo and is her faithful companion. We can no longer stand by and allow Ontario municipal animal services to operate this way.

We feel that in no way these dogs are a threat to the general public and their owners have done no wrong. The Breed Specific law of Ontario has been misinterpreted in this case resulting in the unneeded suffering of the owners and their animals.
