It is not necessary to be a biologist or a ranger in order to spot that
there are no wild animals in most parts of Serbia. It is sufficient to be a
humane person and have a walk in a forest or a plane and notice that there
is no life, except plants'. There are even no unprotected birds, let alone
the protected ones. You may spot a hare here and there what concerns
bigger animals, but in thirty visits to nature you'll see only one
ran-over fox with its dead offspring.
In spite of these facts, the officials do not undertake a measure, which
is adopted in many countries – ban hunt. May be hunting is not an
exclusive cause of the deserted nature, but it is certainly the main one.

Not only because of the numerous guns in merciless hands, but also for the
disturbance, which hunt causes in an area for a long time, and also
because of the hurting of people, which often occurs. Instead of the
«traditional» chases, followed by folk's festivities, the last could be
organised with shooting artificial targets and lectures of celebrities,
who promote animal rights.

It is also known that artificial raising of «game» causes misbalance in
nature, because the so raised individuals do not comply with the rules,
characteristic to their species. For instance, the ducks from incubators
do not hatch their eggs, in that way reducing the total number of «fowl».
Here we do not ponder over guesses whether there is criminal in hunting
in general, «mafia», abuses etc. We are concerned with the well-being of the
natural world in our country. Therefore we demand

1. Ban on all kinds of hunting, including chases, for at least three
years, in all seasons.
2. Permanent ban on hunting migrating birds in all seasons.
3. Strict control of every kind of fishing.
4. Escalating all penalties for breach of the aforementioned and all
existing limitations, permanent disarming inclusive.
5. Permanent ban on breeding “fowl”.

At the end of the second year it will be possible to allow hunting boars
(exclusively), if they become very numerous in some areas. Such a permit
will be issued by the Ministry of agriculture, water management, and
forestry.

The aforementioned measures will be carried out on the whole of the
Serbian territory. Adequate non-governmental organisations should be
included in the control of their implementation. They should also help
hunters to take care of their dogs, if they don’t want to keep them. The
NGOs should aid the organisations, that live of hunting, to organise
tourist or ecological activities, the so called “safari-tourism”,
excursions with cameras etc. There are many more persons with cameras than
those with guns.


We, the undersigned, demand:

1. Ban on all kinds of hunting, including chases, for at least three
years, in all seasons.

2. Permanent ban on hunting migrating birds in all seasons.

3. Strict control of every kind of fishing.

4. Escalating all penalties for breach of the aforementioned and all
existing limitations, permanent disarming inclusive.

5. Permanent ban on breeding “fowl”.

Don't Kill Boston's Zoo Animals!

Governor Deval Patrick, in a line item veto of the proposed 2010 budget for Massachusetts, cut funding for the Franklin Park Zoo (New England's largest zoo) and the Stoneham Zoo by over 61%, from 6.5 million to only 2.5 milliom. According to Zoo New England, which manages the zoos, such drastic cuts could force the zoos to close, and as many of 20% of the animals currently at the zoos could be killed because officials are unlikely to find new homes for them. (Read more in the Boston Globe)

It would be a travesty and an outrage for the state of Massachusetts to allow these animals to be killed because of budget difficulties. We know that economic times are tough - but these are innocent animals, confined to these zoos by humans. These animals should not suffer for our inability to manage our money.

Whatever your feelings are about zoos, please stand up for the lives of these animals and insist that the state of Massachusetts either restore the funds for the zoos immediately or ensure that ALL animals are relocated to sanctuaries to allow these majestic creatures to live out their lives in peace.

That is to say, there is concern for both the health of the animal ingesting the feed and for food safety as humans eating the edible end products of these animals may be exposed to contaminants. Safety concerns are varied depending on the source of poultry litter and manure. There is also potential for pathogenic microbial contamination, i.e. , bacteria such as Salmonella, E. coli and Clostridium botulinum. The transfer of residues of drugs approved for use in poultry may result in residues in manure and litter. Other concerns include chemical contaminants such as heavy metals and pesticides which may accumulate in poultry waste products."


Given the above quote from CFIA, I am left with only one conclusion to arrive at --- US chicken feces, metaphorically, does not "stink" --- you and I both know this is utterly ridiculous, and pure nonsense.

What should be noted here, and is totally uncomprehendable to me is that even with our Canadian Governments ban on the feeding of feces to livestock in Canada, and their warnings, our CFIA still allows over 250 million pounds of US beef to be imported into Canada each year.

We the undersigned are asking you the Dairy Farmers of Ontario (DFO) to immediately disconnect and remove the "Shock Bars"and "Tail Restraints" from your "Tie Stall" dairy cow barns in Ontario Canada. We find your practice of shocking dairy cows to keep them from naturally humping their back to Urinate and Poo totally unacceptable. In our opinion the practice of restraining the dairy cows tail so that she cannot naturally "swish" an itch or flies amounts to "cruel and unusual punishment", Quite like tying a humans hands and putting them in a fly infested environment. We understand that the "sole reason" for these "Barbaric" practices is the convenience of the Farmer and these practices do not contribute in any positive way to the welfare of the cows or the milk quality. This type of "torture" would NOT even be allowed in Guantanamo, you must end it NOW! Your ending these practices would require very little time an NO capital cost. Until you do end these practices, we the consumers of your milk products PROMISE to do everything we can to reduce our milk consumption.

California’s SB 250The Pet Responsibility Act
Each year, over $250 million dollars is spent housing and euthanizing homeless dogs and cats in California1. Approximately 1 million dogs and cats enter California’s shelters each year, and over half of them are euthanized (killed) simply because there are not enough homes2.
This enormous number of homeless pets actually means that every dog born in the state of California today has nearly a 1 in 4 chance of ultimately becoming homeless and dying in a shelter3. Two-thirds of the cats entering California shelters are euthanized2. And, the number of dogs and cats entering our shelters is currently on the rise2.
SB 250 provides a reasonable, fiscally responsible step towards reducing pet overpopulation in California. The bill simply requires that dogs be spayed or neutered unless their owner/guardian obtains an unaltered dog license when they license their animal.
SB 250 also requires that roaming cats be spayed and neutered by their owner/guardian.
SB 250 The Pet Responsibility Act, is:
Fair. Licensed dogs may be left unaltered if the owner/ guardian chooses. Owners cited for violating local or state laws may have their license revoked or be required to spay or neuter.
Fiscally responsible. SB 250 saves the state millions of dollars by reducing homeless pets.
Proven. Spay and neuter laws have been shown effective for over 10 years. In one community, the number of homeless animals was reduced by over 60% after a similar law was implemented4.
Forward thinking. Similar spay and neuter legislation is currently being introduced across the country, as legislators nationwide confront the high costs associated with pet overpopulation.
Provides due process. A full and fair hearing process is provided for matters related to citations.
Flexible. License costs, fines and implementation details are at the discretion of local jurisdictions.
Widely supported. A diverse coalition of elected officials, law enforcement agencies, city and county agencies, humane societies and SPCAs, veterinarians and veterinary hospitals, national animal welfare organizations, California rescue organizations, and thousands of individuals and organizations support spay and neuter legislation like SB 250.

Please save Snaps! SeaTac, Washington Pitbull to die! - The Petition Site: "On June 22, 2009 a group of young teens were observed abusing a Pit Bull on the streets of Washington. When two women intervened the teens attacked them and then used the dog as a weapon against them. This was not the dogs fault. The only fault here is that of the teens that facilitated the attack.

Even one of the victims acknowledges this. Fortunately both women are going to be okay. The dog, however, is going to die. The teens, the ones at fault, will probably get probation. This is not fair. This dog, Snaps, deserves justice. Look at his face, look into his eyes. It obvious he%u2019s never known any kindness and is a broken soul.
Please sign this petition urging King County, Washington officials to spare this dogs life. To hand him over to a rescue that can care for him and give him the sanctuary he deserves. Please help us to get Snaps to a place where he will know kindness and compassion for the first time in his life. He didn%u2019t deserve this. This poor dog has been punished enough in his young life.
