Tell Gaston Co NC Animal Control No to Gas, etc - The Petition Site

Tell Gaston Co NC Animal Control No to Gas, etc - The Petition Site

My husband and myself have been horrified by the failure of care given to the animals kept at Gaston County Animal Control. They also gas animals twice a day, they are over crowded. So basically if a dog is picked up it will be dead in a few days. Its a sad situation. They are crowded into dog runs, left wet and cold in winter (I've seen puppies like this there). They are racist against large breed dogs and chose to kill them instead of giving them a chance at a home. We pay taxes to keep this place going. They have failed inspection for the past several years, they have been warned but keep being allowed to fail inspection and continue their cruelty. They have gassed a dog twice that lived and a local rescue group took her after all she had been through. If that doesn't tell you that gassing animals is painful and wrong then you must be a sick person. And try telling your 6 year old nephew why animal control was dumping dead dog bodies in our public landfill during the day. How would they feel if they were dumped as trash when they passed away. Have the respect to take a sec when its time for a dog or cat to die to take that animal and lay them down and give them an injection and a pat on the head because that may be the only affection and love that animal has ever had from a human. They need to stop throwing them in mass numbers into the gas chamber where they fight for their lives out of fear and die without respect or dignity. Tell Gaston County Animal Control to clean up their act, pass inspections, treat the animals with respect and stop using gas chambers. It should be against the law.

Its a good thing our Nation isn't judged by our treatment of our animals because we have failed them bad. Please add you signature to help us correct this wrong that is being done to these precious animals. The least they can do is take out the gas chambers and use injection only. Please tell Gaston County NC Animal Control to change their policies and stop gassing animals.

End the UK Primate Pet Trade - The Petition Site

End the UK Primate Pet Trade - The Petition Site

Wild Futures, formerly The Monkey Sanctuary Trust, based in Cornwall, is a registered charity, which draws on over 40 years of experience caring for unwanted ex-pet monkeys. The Trust is working hard to raise awareness of and put an end to the cruel primate pet trade in the UK.

The primate pet trade in the UK is little documented and many people are shocked that it is still legal to buy and sell monkeys as pets in the UK. However, there may be 5000 privately owned primates in the UK, sometimes living in garden sheds or bird cages without the appropriate 24-hour care that they need and deserve. All primates suffer greatly from this cruel trade, which takes babies from their mothers to be raised by hand for the pet trade. This early separation is extremely traumatic for both mother and baby as, like us, primates are dependent on their mothers for at least 2-3 years. Primates suffer mentally and physically from being kept in captivity as we can never provide for all their needs and as pets they often face isolation and neglect. As wild animals, they can never be domesticated and are also dangerous and a threat to public health due to the diseases that they can carry.

Join Wild Futures in calling for an end to the Trade in Primates as Pets in the UK. On December 10th we will be presenting the petition at The House of Commons and then at the Prime Minister's residence, Number 10 Downing Street. By adding your support to our petition, you will help us to show the Government that there is huge support for this trade to be stopped. Please go to the following page to sign up.

Justice for Dusty! Petition

Monday 16 November 2009 0 comments
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/149/justice-for-dusty

"On or about November 4, 2009 in Owingsville, KY, a beautiful two year old Golden Retriever named 'Dusty' was found hanging from a backhoe in a macabre display of brutality, visible to any who were unfortunate witnesses passing on a nearby road. The owner of the dog, Wesley Barrett, claims that his unnamed neighbor shot and killed the dog, upon finding the dog dead he hung the dog as a message to his neighbor. A shocked witness of the hanging dog took photos and called animal control. Police were notified and sent to the Barrett residence, however, Mr. Barrett failed to name the neighbor that allegedly shot the dog, he failed to press charges and the police did not investigate this gruesome murder.

According to many reports, an investigation into this murder has been requested, however, to date, the concern for Dusty's murder seems to have disappeared as quickly as his body. We call for an investigation into this senseless murder. We ask what pet owner would hang his dead dog and refuse to press charges against whoever allegedly murdered his dog?

We ask the officials of Kentucky to take a stand, do not let Dusty's murder go unpunished, this was blatant animal abuse and nothing less. Dusty was only 2 years old, I cannot imagine the pain this dog suffered prior to his death.

We remind the officials in Kentucky that as the new year comes so do the elections and we remind the citizens of Kentucky to remember Dusty, remember if your elected officials cannot protect and enforce safety of the animals of Kentucky, how can they protect and enforce the safety of it's people?

People have responded with disgust at the hanging of this dog from not just around the United States but from around the World. Kentucky, your failure to follow up on this atrocity has embarrassed you"

Please stop the closure of our Cyprus animal shelter! - The Petition Site

Please stop the closure of our Cyprus animal shelter! - The Petition Site

Argos animal shelter in Cyprus provides refuge to abused, abandoned and neglected animals.

Every week animals arrive that have been starved, shot, abused or just left in the street to fend for themselves. At Argos they receive food, veterinary care, shelter and love from the dedicated volunteers who work at Argos.

It is with great sadness that we are forced to announce that unless we receive financial aid the sanctuary which presently shelters over 200 animals will be forced to close down.

As a charitable organisation Argos depends on the donations of the general public and the small income from its charity shops in order to build shelters for the animals and support their food and veterinary costs.

The Cyprus government has turned its back on its legal obligations towards the stray animals and ignores the fact that this has become an immense social problem. Animal welfare societies have been burdened with this social problem because as responsible citizens they have a duty of care to protect the animals from abuse and suffering they endure from ignorant and irresponsible citizens and local government services.

The Cyprus government taxes Argos Animal Shelter as a business, does not allow us to claim back VAT and has not given any financial assistance.

The meagre annual government grant of 17,000 euros divided amongst the island's 15 or so animal welfare societies has not been given for 2008 and 2009 and there is no indication as to when this will be forthcoming.

The Cyprus government simply does not care about animal welfare but if you care and want to help us continue our mission in helping these poor animals please donate anything you can at www.argossanctuary.com

You can also help by POLITELY telling the Cyprus government to start taking responsibility for this huge island wide problem.

Thank you for caring about the animals.

Immediate Search and Appointment of a Progressive General Manager for Los Angeles Animal Services - The Petition Site

As concerned Los Angeles citizens and taxpayers

As caring advocates for animals and a better Los Angleles

As members of rescue groups and animal advocacy organizations

As visitors to your city

We are appalled by the unconscionable number of animals killed, the horrific conditions in the shelters and the lack of accountability to the public by the Department of Los Angeles Animal Services (LAAS). We therefore demand a new No-Kill, progressive General Manager candidate be found by a search committee and appointed by the Mayor immediately who will implement No Kill Policies, Programs, Protocols and creative advertising techniques to STOP THE KILLING in our six LA City shelters.

We the undersigned do not want Kathleen Davis to be General Manager of Los Angeles Animal Services. Davis and her assistant Linda Barth are both inexperienced, incompetent leaders who know nothing about implementing progressive programs, policies, protocols and advertising techniqes in order to save the lives of our city's homeless and lose companion animals.

Here is the first bit of information on Kathy Davis that you need to know in order to understand why a search for a progressive, No-Kill GM is needed ASAP.

Point #1)

Kathy Davis herself initially told the Mayor's office that she was NOT qualified for the General Manager's position. But now it seems she is back-peddling, figuring that the high salary she is being paid, and the fact that she doesn't need to do anything but tell people who call and complain that "I will talk to my staff and get back to you", may not be such a difficult job after all. Of course, she never gets back to anyone who has called to complain about things like the lack of transparency in the stats currently, or other abuses, neglect and increased killing taking place inside LAAS.

Point #2)

The Mayor's office likes Davis because she doesn't make waves. That might make life easy for the Mayor's office, but it doesn't make anything better for the animals; and Davis' job and the Mayor's job should be to make things better for the animals by implementing No-Kill programs, protocols and policies. But as Davis' resume shows, she has NO experience or interest in No-Kill programs, protocols or policies. In fact, in her resume to become interim General Manager, Davis put as a bullet point her achievement of having SUBSTANTIALLY INCREASED the volume of animals impounded by more than about 30%. She thinks impounding and killing more animals is a positive! She doesn't mention ANYTHING about increasing adoptions in Indiana or Dallas (the adoption rate for Dallas when she left was a horrifying 6%), nothing about reducing euthanasia, nothing about creative programs she enacted that saved the lives of animals. She is a bureaucrat like those of the Jerry Greenwalt era, whose catch-and-kill mentality and lack of knowledge of the No-Kill model, is a death sentence for the animals inside LAAS.

In this alert, we'd like to give you a bit of background on Kathy Davis:

In Dallas from 2007-2008 she was assistant director of Development Services, basically she was one of those in charge of building codes for the city! She served as interim Building Official and facilitated the search for a new Building Official! Yep, this appears to be right up the alley for implementing the No-Kill equation for the animals imprisoned inside the six city Death Camps! From 2002 to 2007, Davis was the city of Dallas Director of Code Compliance. In Dallas, "Code Compliance" includes animal services and other departments such as parking meters, graffiti removal and even jails!

Some interested ADL-LA members called the shelters in Dallas and spoke to some of the employees there and they said that each shelter has its own managers (who apparently reported to Davis) and that the shelter workers never even saw Davis. She had little to do with animal services and much more involvement with other things under "Code Compliance." In fact, from Davis' own resume, she focuses on things like how she helped in overhauling a multi-tenant program linking crime fighting initiatives to drive down crime in complexes in Dallas. Oh yes, and she also helped developed a graffiti program based on the Phoenix model! Lost and homeless animals are involved in lots of graffiti, so this ought to help her in her job as LAAS General Manager! She also helped developed a partnership with the state jail facility of Dallas to utilize prisoners for litter pick up. Now THAT'S something that will save the lives of our homeless animals.

The mayor's office has just turned the clock back to the seventies with a return to a "catch-and-kill mentality" that the humane community has worked so hard to overcome.

Kathy Davis and her assistant Linda Barth have now begun to impound MORE animals and kill them. Davis knows NOTHING about implementing progressive programs that SAVE the lives of animals, she knows NOTHING about creative advertising to help get more individuals to adopt a shelter animal rather than go to a pet store or breeder, Davis knows NOTHING about implementing multiple off-site pet adoptions, and neither does her side kick, another city bureaucrat, Linda Barth.

We must face the fact head on that the animals are, if anything, now in a worse situation under Kathy Davis and Linda Barth than under Ed Boks reign. So don't put away your picketing shoes or signs just yet.

PLEASE e-mail, call or write the contacts below and demand the mayor's office do the right thing and do it fast; search for a progressive No-Kill General Manager to take Boks' place as head of the LAAS.

Stiffer penalties for animal cruelty Petition

Stiffer penalties for animal cruelty Petition

We, the undersigned, call on the Australian Government to ensure worse penalties for people who enforce cruelty upon animals.

Animals feel pain and emotions just as much as humans do so why not have just as bad penalties for abuse to animals as to humans? If the penalties for animal cruelty are light, who is to say they won't strike again and again?

If the penalties were worse there's a good chance they won't dare to repeat their evil acts.

Help Save Downed Veal Calves from Cruelty | Animal Law Coalition

Help Save Downed Veal Calves from Cruelty Animal Law Coalition

Posted Nov 5, 2009 by lauraallen Farm AnimalsA U.S. Dept. of Agriculture regulation, 9 CFR 309.13(b), has meant brutally cruel treatment for veal calves. The regulation states that "[v]eal calves that are unable to rise from a recumbent position and walk because they are tired or cold may also be set apart and held.... The U.S. Condemned identification tag will be removed by a Program employee following treatment under such supervision if the animal is found to be free from any such disease."

In other words, unlike other non-ambulatory or "downed" cows, calves used for veal can still be slaughtered instead of humanely euthanized. Indeed, the Humane Society of the United States recently released undercover video that captured terrible treatment of these animals at the Bushway Packing Inc plant in Grand Isle, Vermont. A USDA inspector is said to have stood by and allowed the owner of the plant and its employees mercilessly drag, shove, beat, kick, and use electric prods, sometimes with water to make it worse, on calves that could not stand on their own. The animals were slaughtered while alive. For more, see the video below. It is egregious, vicious animal cruelty.

The USDA and Vermont Agency of Agriculture have shut down this plant pending an investigation.

In response to the video, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said in a press release: "The deplorable scenes recorded in the video released by the Humane Society of the United States are unequivocally unacceptable. The callous behavior and attitudes displayed in the video clearly appear to be violations of USDA's humane handling regulations.

"USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is investigating these alleged violations of the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act (HMSA). FSIS took immediate action with respect to its employee and the establishment upon preliminary verification of the incident. The Department fully supports the investigation of all those involved in these alleged violations of the HMSA. To this end, I have also called on our Inspector General to conduct a criminal investigation of the events in the video."

Veal calves are brutally treated their whole lives, long before they reach a slaughter house like Bushway.

Veal calves are those male calves that are unwanted and removed from their mothers immediately after birth; they are confined often by tethers for life in tiny 2' wide stalls where they cannot move. The close confinement is calculated not only to encourage weight gain, but also to keep their muscles weak to ensure their meat will be tender.

The calves are fed a liquid milk diet. The diet is deficient in iron and fiber and is actually designed to cause anemia to give their meat that light color. The calves are not given any bedding or straw for fear they will eat it and cause their meat to be dark. Instead, they lie on slats that allow their urine and feces to fall through to a pit below. The inadequate diet causes abnormal gut development and stomach ulcerations; the calves are prone to illness and disease.

The calves suffer great frustration, boredom, and stress as a result of isolation from their mothers and herd. They are prevented from grazing, grooming, stretching, all important behaviors for them. They enjoy no natural behaviors or interactions.

The European Union bans treatment of veal calves in this way.

Regardless, non-ambulatory veal calves should not be subjected to such brutality or slaughtered at all.

You can help stop at least this cruelty. These animals should be humanely euthanized. Call on the Secretary of the USDA, Tom Vilsack (1) to amend the regulations to ban slaughter of downed veal calves, (2) enforce the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act which requires no animal should be slaughtered while conscious. The Humane Society of the United States is also calling for an overhaul of the USDA inspection program. No inspector should stand by and allow such cruelty. HSUS is calling as well for a ban on transport of veal calves that are less than 10 days old.

Abandoned, left to die alone, scared and starving in the streets of Portugal!! - The Petition Site

Abandoned, left to die alone, scared and starving in the streets of Portugal!!" petition

This is a petition to get some much needed help for abandoned animals in the streets of Portugal! there is a great need for awareness and education about spaying and neutering and just plain compassion about these suffering animals! way too many times people will just leave them tied to a roadside fence so that they won't follow them home, and then these poor animals are unable to get to any kind of food or water and they wait endlessly for their "owners" to come back which of course they never do! It's very sad to see these poor animals rome aimlessly, dazed, scared and starving, many times they get hit by cars and no one bothers to stop or hlep them and there are no shelters at all, or any kind of animal welfare laws!....NOTHING to protect them at all!

This petition is an effort to put an end to so much suffering and try to get a shelter built! PLEASE SIGN AND SHARE!!

"PORTUGAL IS HELL FOR ANIMALS, WE CAN THANK IT TO ALL OUR POLITICIANS! DO NOT VISIT PORTUGAL ON HOLLIDAYS, LETS PUNISH A COUNTRY THAT HAS NO LAW FOR THE ONES THAT CAN NOT DEFEND THEMSELVES . PLEASE SUPPORT PORTUGUESE ANIMAL WELFARE ASSOCIATIONS, THEY HAVE EXTREME NEEDS, THANK YOU."

Portugal is a BEAUTIFUL country with great people but when it comes to animals it's SHAMEFUL SHAMEFUL SHAMEFUL! First off, the laws don't offer any kind of protection to animals. It's not just about abandoned animals. There are many animals being beaten up and neglected by their owners and NO ONE CAN DO ANYTHING. Animals are seen as private property so as long and they're your property you can do anything you want with them. I CAN KILL ALL MY DOGS AND CATS and get away with it even if everyone sees it, and they can't do anything either because it's my property and I do whatever I want with my property. The other problem is people education. I remember in school being taught about respecting other people, other races, disabled people, poor people, the environment, not dumping trash on the ground, a lot of stuff but about ANIMALS? Nothing. They don't make it clear that animals deserve respect. People don't believe that in here. They see animals as toys, conveniences, companions, fun not LIVING BEINGS who deserve the same respect as humans.

Save the Animals in Jasper Petition

We want Justice for Aries. He was euthanized by the Walker County Humane Society staff 2 hours after arrival.

Animals at the Walker County Humane Society in Jasper, Alabama are being euthanized without ever being given a chance at locating their rightful owners or being adopted.

Stray animals turned into their custody by well-meaning citizens are being euthanized within hours or even minutes of arriving violating the seven day hold mandated by Alabama State Code 1975 3-7A-7.

These actions are being justified due to lack of funding and facilities provided by the city of Jasper for the impoundment of animals. Empty pens are not being used because HS staff state they are broken.

Lack of space is cited as an ongoing issue.

This petition is to urge Walker County Humane Society to make immediate changes in policy to comply with Alabama state law and for the City of Jasper to provide suitable funding and resources as required by law for the impoundment of animals.

The law requires dog or cat owners be notified when their animal is impounded, if ownership can be determined, or the animal may be put up for adoption after at least seven days. The Code of Alabama also requires all counties to have a suitable pound and impound officer.

Alabama Code 1975 3-7A-7 reads as follows: Maintenance of pound; notice of impoundment; adoption of animals.

It shall be the duty of each and every county in the state to provide a suitable county pound and impounding officer for the impoundment of dogs and cats found running at large in violation of the provisions of this chapter. Every municipality with a population over 5,000 in which the county pound is not located shall maintain a suitable pound or contribute their pro rata share to the staffing and upkeep of the county pound. When dogs and cats are impounded and if the owner thereof is known, such owner shall be given direct notice of the impoundment of said animals or animals belonging to him; or the impounding officer may make said animal or animals available for adoption after a period of not less than seven days. (Acts 1990, No. 90-530, p.816)

The goal of this petition is for reformation of the Walker County Humane Society. We would like to see the law followed by the Walker County Humane Society as well as by its employees.

Animal Rights Bill Petition

Animal Rights Bill Petition

United Nations
3 United Nations Plz
New York NY 100017
USA

To the United Nations,

We call on the United Nations to establish an Animal Rights Bill in respect of our fellow creatures to a right to peace on earth in keeping with the establishment of Human Rights in the last century.

We can no longer accept the suffering, torment, abuse, torture and murder of those who cannot speak, nor can we allow the human race to continue to dictate over Animal Rights of freedom to further their own needs and gain. Just like humans, animals seek to protect their life and live peacefully on earth. Who are we to deny them this?

The establishment of Human Rights marked a new era in rights and justice, though human conscience does not permit us to forget or exclude those who in reality have the capacity of experiencing emotions, this compels us to believe that moral limits must apply to non human as to human.

An Animal Rights bill will not only end animal suffering and save countless animals, it may have a far greater effect than we can imagine. It may benefit civilization in its struggle towards peace on earth. We have come to understand the way humans treat animals reflects on how they treat one another. Those who choose to inflict violence on animals are usually violent towards humans. The establishment of Animal Rights is a logical and natural progression in human thinking that may bring civilization closer towards a more peaceful world not only for humans but all living beings.

A UN Animal Rights bill is crucial in ending the inhumane actions of the countries listed.

The demonic dog and cat, meat and fur trade in China, Korea and Vietnam endure cats and dogs to a life of despair, misery and suffering before slaughtering them with acts of torture for their own selfish needs; food and the profit from fur. This monstrous brutality is being committed in the name of so-called tradition.

The USA's sickening culture of dogfighting is the result of a violent society that has led criminals to force dogs to fight to the death for the amusement of humans and profit.

Afghanistan is another violent culture that uses the suffering and death of dogs for a cultures' entertainment.

The bear trade in China, Korea, Japan and Vietnam force bears in captivity for years - holding them in tiny cramped cages, enduring them to a life of suffering and despair for the extraction and profit of bile used for Chinese medicine, when a bear can no longer produce bile they are killed for their meat, fur, paws, and gall bladder.

The monkey trade in Cambodia, Malaysia, Mauritius and Nepal cruelly capture and export monkeys for profit to research labs in the United States, China, United Kingdom, Russia and Iran. Moral-less humans sacrifice the lives of monkeys for science experiments, medical research, food, fur and profit.

Japan's senseless dolphin and whale slaughter is commited in the name of science and the needs of a greedy culture.

The ivory trade in Namibia, Kenya, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Zambia, Sudan, Republic of Congo and Botswana has lead poachers heartlessly to kill elephants for profit. Elephants endure suffering and indignity as they are killed in order for humans to obtain ivory from elephants tusks used for jewelery, piano keys and souvenirs.

Bear and deer hunting in parts of the USA and Canada is committed by ignorant humans for food, sport, leisure and a sense of achievement.

The American tradition of rodeos is where animals are abused, berated and humiliated by humans for entertainment and profit.

The dancing bears in India, Russia, Spain, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine spend a life time at the end of a rope, they endure suffering, torment and abuse for human entertainment and profit.

In the middle east and throughout the world horses, donkeys and mules are used to carry heavy loads. In harsh environments these unfortunate animals are forced to carry and pull humans, rocks, furniture, fruit etc. loads that are far to heavy for tiny donkeys. They are beaten and abused; those that are injured and no longer useful are abandoned by the side of the road.

The Spanish culture of bullfighting is a sport where bulls are tormented by cowards before stabbing them to death with spears in an act of so-called heroism for the amusement of humans.

Canada's yearly seal slaughter, where thousands of innocent baby seals are clubbed to death and often skinned while still alive is barbarianism at its zenith. All this just for a few more dollars for the government ... one that prides itself on a no-kill judicial system for its humans and one that will not even permit a non-Canadian criminal extradition if capital punishment is a possibility in his returning country.

The US Defense Department test weaponry on animals. Animals are subject to irradiation, burning, bombings, wounds and decompression sickness. Every year, at least 320,000 primates, dogs, pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits, cats, and other animals are hurt and killed by the DoD.

Turkey, Greece, Serbia, Puerto Rico and Romania's inability to provide and protect the welfare of their animals has led to neglect, suffering, abuse and killing of their animals due to the effects of immoral and uneducated cultures.

There are many more injustices facing the souls of the Animal Kingdom, these are only a few examples. In reality the human race's violent and greedy nature will not only lead to the extinction of animals but its own demise.

It is time the United Nations honour what it claims to stand for: freedom, peace and a just world for all.

RAISE YOUR VOICES AGAINST DOG SLAUGHTER IN THAILAND. - The Petition Site

RAISE YOUR VOICES AGAINST DOG SLAUGHTER IN THAILAND. - The Petition Site

In Thailand, massive numbers of dogs are killed in the lucrative trade for dog flesh, hide, and other body parts. Investigators documented the slaughter of dogs in the vicinity of Sakhon Nakhon in northeast Thailand.

Many different breeds of dogs, collected from all over the country, are brought to Sakhon Nakhon to be killed. One estimate is that 30,000 dogs are killed in the area of Sakhon Nakhon monthly. Many of them are puppies.

Typically, dogs are brought into Sakhon Nakhon from other villages, crammed as densely as possible into a cage on the back of the collector's truck. The journey can take up to three days, and the dogs are denied food and water during the trip. By the time they reach the slaughterhouse, many are sick, some are dead. But their weakened state makes the dogs easier to kill.

It wasn't easy for the investigators to get inside the slaughterhouse because police investigations and unfavorable press reports have made workers suspicious of strangers. But the investigators eventually succeeded. There, they watched as workers sorted dog skins in the dim light.

The next night investigators watched a truck arrive at the slaughter-house carrying 70 dogs which consisted of mixed breeds, German shepherds, and others. These defenseless animals were shy and frightened. Others animals possibly stolen pets looked well-groomed and trusting. All met the same fate.

We are raising our VOICES against this horrific and most disturbing cruelty on our precious animals. How can any nation considered themselves civilised and humane with this brutal practice on defenseless animals?

Enough is enough!!!! We will boycott all trade with Thailand. We discourage potential visitors to bypass this region because of their abuse of animals. We will never stop until this vile trade is banned. Our animals are crying out with pain and suffering and we must put ourselves in the 'front line' and save them. We got the means and ways to put an end to this atrocity - We must gather ourselves collectedly to make these 'savages' stop this unspeakable cruelty otherwise we are all to blame for this prolonged EXPLOITATION.

Letter:
Mayor Wharton,
We were horrified to learn of the cruelty dogs suffered in the Memphis Animal Shelter. It was reported a female mixed breed puppy that was brought to the shelter in August died within three weeks of what was described as "non-accidental starvation." A veterinarian said the dog had lost one-quarter of her body weight.

We the undersigned demand these employees be charged under

TENN. CODE ANN. 39-14-201 which states in part:
A person commits the crime of cruelty to animals if the person:

Intentionally or knowingly tortures, maims, grossly overworks, fails to provide necessary food, water, care or shelter for an animal, abandons, transports in a cruel manner, inflicts burns, cuts, lacerations, or other injuries or pain to any animal by any method including blistering compounds to the legs or hooves of horses.

A person commits the crime of aggravated cruelty to animals if the person:

Intentionally kills or intentionally causes serious physical injury to a companion animal.
Cruelty to animals/Aggravated cruelty.

Class A Misdemeanor.

Fine up to $2,500.
11 months, 29 days to 30 years imprisonment.

Furthermore, we demand the individuals responsible be immediately terminated from the shelter.

Sincerely,

The petition signers

URGENT BLS Proposed for Auburn CA - The Petition Site

"Should the city ban pitbulls or put restrictions on their owners?

It%u2019s a question Auburn City councilman Kevin Hanley has put forward to city staff.

In a recent memo, Hanley asks city manager Bob Richardson and Police Chief Valerie Harris to consider a pitbull ordinance to be placed on a future city agenda."

I urge everyone, right now, to contact Kevin Hanley and the City Manager and let them know you oppose any ordinance targeting a specific breed of dog (and remind them that, pursuant to Section 31683 of the California Food and Agricultural Code, no city or county can ban or restrict ownership of Pit Bulls, except for basic spay/neuter laws).

Kevin Hanley, Council Member

hanleykh@jps.net
Dr. Bill Kirby, Council Member

Also please consider contacting the other city officials:
Mike Holmes, Mayor

njrhs@inreach.com

Bridget Powers, Mayor Pro Tempore

Keith Nesbitt, Council Member

mr.auburn@sbcglobal.net

Dr. Bill Kirby, Council Member

It is important that we deal with this promptly and in a firm, decisive manner. It would not be beyond past precedent for Hanley to seek yet another change to state law to permit even greater BSL here in California. Furthermore, if Auburn goes the BSL route, in light of recent events portrayed in the media, expect many other CA cities to follow very soon

Stop The Use of Gas Chambers in the United States - The Petition Site

Please read the information below to understand why the gassing of animals must stop. Feel free to visit our website for more details. www.pawsoftomorrow.com

Consider the following (WARNING - Graphic Material):
Can you imagine being thrown into a huge metal box with a half a dozen other folks, just thrown in on top of one another and having the lid closed. In total darkness, you're scared and you can hear the whimpering and crying of the others in the box. What is going on, why are we here? Then you all start to cough and choke, there is no air to breathe, your lungs feel like they will burst any second. Your eyes and nose are running and you lose control of all bodily functions. The stench is unbearable and the screams and cries are ear shattering. Then it starts to get quiet, one by one the others stop their whimpering and though disoriented and unable to move you try to make since of what is going on. And then there is light, the lid comes up and hope rises that whatever happened is all over and its time to get out of here. Before you can get oriented and figure out what took place, another group of squirming and whimpering live bodies are tossed into the box on top of you, the lid closes again and the horror continues. Your barely conscious and lose track of how many times this procedure was performed before you find yourself out in the light being stuffed in a huge plastic bag and disposed of at the dump. You're trying to make a noise, pleading that someone will realize that you are still alive, but you can't. You're too weak and suffer neurological damage from the gas. Eventually you die, suffering terribly amidst a pile of dead bodies..and your last thought is, What did we do to deserve this?

NASA to Start Radiation Experiments on Monkeys!! - The Petition Site

NASA is stepping up its space radiation studies with a round of experiments that for the first time in decades will use monkeys as subjects.
The point of the experiments is to understand how the harsh radioactive environment of space affects human bodies and behavior and what countermeasures can be developed to make long-duration spaceflight safe for travelers beyond Earth's protective magnetic shield.

For the new study, 18 to 28 squirrel monkeys will be exposed to a low dose of the type of radiation that astronauts traveling to Mars can expect to encounter.

For Bergman's study, squirrel monkeys trained on a variety of behavioral tasks will be tested to see how exposure to radiation impacts performance. The radiation exposures will take place at NASA's Space Radiation Laboratory at the Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York.

Please let them know there are alternative methods and experimenting on animals is barbaric and unacceptable!!
